Allsaints-

Newbury's newest additional takes over the old pottery barn space, casting aside gingham and placements for some very edgy mid-priced fashions from this UK export.

Like Reiss down the block, All Saints generally riffs off more established designers high end pieces (in this case Rick Owens and Damir Doma seem to be the sources of much of the inspiration)

The pieces are industrial chic; muted colors, skinny jeans with dropped crotches, long sheer cardigans and voluminous necklines. For those fortunate enough to be familiar with BostonHomme's personal closet, the look is probably very familiar.

Some of the knitwear and jersey pieces are excellent, but especially in the leathers, the quality is a little iffy even though the price point is comparatively low. (600 for an all saints vs. 2700 for a similar piece at Bilzerian)

Definatley worth a stop by, put a little UK street style in your preppy beantown closet- will do you good.

Nice Collective - The Gathering

Nice Collective, the design duo known for their deconstructed and reconstructed sportswear have released an dope video highlighting their spring summer collection.  From the video description-

"For their Spring 2010 collection Nice Collective founders Joe Haller and Ian Hannula brought friends, artists, stylists and models on a camping trip (aka the Gathering) in Northern California "to organically capture imagery of the season's clothing and product through real experience rather than art direction." Among the members of the experimental venture, digital artist Andrew Jones' and photographer Spencer Hansen's combined talents led to the incredible footage that Joe edited into a short video."

I love how the clothes themselves are used as the canvas for the projections, and I bet you anything the collection is chock full of thumbholes! Shop Nice Collective at at Uncle Pete's on Charles Street

Rag & Bone FW 2010

Rag & Bone, known for their well cut, luxe, work-wear inspired collections have really taken it to the next level the last few collections.

The clean military influenced spring collection has given way to an absolutely brilliant FW collection that is filled with masculine, wearable pieces.  R&B, like so many designers for next fall are making a big statement on proportion and layering with military and highland undertones.  Camo actually makes an appearance and doesn't seem awful. Wearing this on the street will clearly take a little editing,  layers of thick knits, flannels and good wool coats are tailor made for the long cold Boston winter. Check out Rag & Bone at Barney's, Saks, and The Tannery in town.

Some favorites from the runway, love the toggle cardigan and the thick wool socks.

Band Outsiders...Spring Preview

Band of Outsiders has released a batch of spring promo Polaroids. The weather outside so awful, I could really just crawl inside one of them to live.

The look for spring from B of O is very Cali/60's/nautical. Short sleeves button downs have been dip-dyed and airbrushed.  Suits are double breasted with prominent metal buttons. Although retaining a sense of the slightly shrunken fit Band of Outsiders is known for, there seems to be a bit more room in the spring collection. Check out the Band website for a look at the full campaign.

The Band folks are also continuing their collaboration with Sperry which still looks great.  You'll be seeing the grey flannel ones on my feet as soon as I can get my hands on 'em.

Band of Outsiders is available at Barneys in Boston and all over the interwebs.  The B of O/Sperry kicks are also at Barney's and at Sperry website

Little bit of Spring at Riccardi

Popped into Riccardi  to check out both their ongoing 50% off sale and there pre-spring pieces.

As usual, they have a mix of high end European and Japanese designers, a huge selection of demin and some of the most interesting peices available in Boston.

After recovering from the customary onset of RSSS (Riccardi Sticker Shock Syndrome) I was really taken with the new more relaxed pieces from Dior Homme and ready to take out a second mortgage for the  Balmain pieces, which I have written about before and love, love, love.

Drips and Draps

The local sales are winding down, Louis is finally gone and litle bits of spring are starting to show up at retailers all over the city.

Barney's Boston has dumped Prada and replaced it with Jil Sander and an expanded Dries Van Noten selection...well done! (Although the Balanciaga skirt/pants/culotte thing did raise an eyebrow)

Looking into online bespoke shirt resellers... will be ordering shirts from both www.biasedcut.com and http://taylorstitch.com/ and taking you all through the process.

Working on a full report on the menswear F/W2010 shows but early favorites were definitely Burberry's super-luxe military return to form and Neil Barrett's dark and moody patchwork of impeccable tailored uniform pieces. Tall combat boots and some real play in proportion seem to be the most consistent themes two days in....and I'll tell you right now... those Burberry shearling combat boots will be on these feet next fall.
